GATA3, a member of the GATA family of transcription factors, is a highly specific marker of breast and bladder related cancers. GATA3 is not expressed in prostate and kidney related cancers. GATA3 is commonly used in combination with p63 and S100, two markers of TCC in the urinary tract. GATA3 was expressed in all non-neoplastic trophoblastic proliferative lesions and 81% of trophoblastic tumors. GATA3 could be used to differentiate trophoblastic tumors from synovial sarcomas and squamous cell carcinomas.
