The product encoded by nm23 gene has the function of inhibiting tumor metastasis. The expression level of nm23 is high in well-differentiated tumors. It's expression is negatively correlated with lymphatic metastasis, and positively correlated with disease-free survival and overall survival rates. Detection of nm23 protein level can be used as an important reference index for the presence or absence of metastases.
