E-Cadherin

E-cadherin, a 120kDa transmembrane glycoprotein, is a major calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule of epithelial cells. It participates in the regulation of cell adhesion, maintenance of morphology and motility, and is associated with tumor invasion. It is mainly used to distinguish breast ductal carcinoma from lobular carcinoma, to distinguish mesothelioma from adenocarcinoma, and to determine tumor invasion and metastasis.
