Galectin-3

Galectin-3, with a molecular weight of 30KDa, is a member of the β-galectin-binding family. It is expressed in the nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, cell surface, and in extracellular space. Studies have shown that Galectin-3 combined with Cytokeratin19 can be used in the differential diagnosis of thyroid follicular adenoma, follicular carcinoma and papillary carcinoma. Galectin-3 is strongly positive in microinvasive follicular carcinoma and seromorphic invasion, and may be used in the differential diagnosis of follicular adenoma and microinvasive carcinoma.
