MUC1 is a member of the mucin family, and its synthesis and secretion is one of the characteristics of glandular epithelial tissue. Under normal circumstances, it is mainly expressed in epithelial cells in a variety of tissues and organs near the lumen. MUC1 is expressed in many benign serous tumors, in malignant tumors, and also in adenocarcinomas and at the junction of serous and mucinous tumors.
